No objections to the Hologram Zoo in Metalli

The objection period for the planned Holographic Zoo, which is to move into the Metalli shopping centre in Zug, expired on 21st October. As confirmed by the City of Zug upon request, no objections have been received to date.

To many people, and especially to animal rights activist, the use of real animals in zoos and circuses is a cruel anachronism. In addition, many cities and regions already prohibit the use of live animals in show programmes.

These difficulties can be avoided by the Hologram Zoo, which immerses its visitors in a 'holoverse' created with high-precision laser light, and can display images of animals that are amazingly realistic. The use of holograms also saves on the costs of food, accommodation and transport that would be incurred by real zoos.

The upper floor above the Douglas and Carat shops in the Metalli shopping centre in Zug has been vacant since the C&A shop closed in August 2023. A digital zoo is planning to move in there, and will be accessed via the same route as the Migros Club School.

Such hologram zoos are already well established in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. There is also a European location in Copenhagen. Nevertheless, the location in the Metalli shopping mall in Zug will be the first in Switzerland.
