Nine restaurants in canton awarded 13 points or more in latest Gault Millau guide

Last Monday the 2020 Gault-Millau was published with no fewer than nine restaurants in the canton achieving thirteen or more points.

The top two restaurants in Zug, both with 16 points and in both cases up from 15 points last time, were the Wart in Hünenberg and the Hirschen on Morgartenstrasse in Oberägeri.

Both the Wildenmann on St Germannstrasse in Buonas and the Löwen on Holzhäusernstrasse in Menzingen achieved 15 points, this latter restaurant for the first time.

There then followed four restaurants with 14 points, namely the Hinterbergmühle on Edlibachstrasse in Neuheim, the Lindenhof on Höfnerstrasse in Unterägeri, the Aklin in the city of Zug and the Sternen on Dorfstrasse in Walchwil, this latter restaurant for the first time.

Finally, the Zum Kaiser Franz on Vorstadt in the city of Zug was awarded 13 points.

Lovers of fine food prepared to travel a little further might like to go to Vitznau in the canton of Lucerne where no fewer than four restaurants were awarded high numbers of points. These included the Focus restaurant at the Park Hotel with 18 points, the Sens restaurant at the Vitznauerhof with 17 points and the Prisma restaurant at the Park Hotel with 16 points, these latter establishments each achieving one point more than last time, in addition to the Seeterrasse at the Park Hotel which achieved 13 points.

That’s right, four high quality restaurants achieving 64 Gault Millau points between them in a municipality of just 1,750 inhabitants.

Of note is that the Beau Rivage in nearby Weggis achieved 14 points, with the Friedheim also achieving 13 points. And the Balm restaurant at La Pistache in Meggen also did very well in scoring 16 points.
