New provisional roundabout

The light signal system at the intersection of Chamerstrasse/Berchtwilertrasse/Poststrasse in Rotkreuz is defective. In order to regulate traffic safely, a temporary roundabout  is now being created.

The traffic light system at the Chamerstrasse/Berchtwilertrasse/Poststrasse junction in Rotkreuz has a technical defect, and has been flashing orange since the beginning of September. After more than 20 years of continuous operation, the plant has reached the end of its service life. Until the planned redesign of the road, the defective traffic lights will be dismantled and a temporary roundabout will be built at the intersection, according to the press release of the Cantonal Construction Directorate (Baudirektion). Work will begin next Monday, 9 November, and is expected to last until mid-December. After that, the pedestrian crossings can again be safely routed without traffic control and without restrictions.

Traffic control service deployed
During the construction work, a traffic control service will be in operation for both road users and pedestrians from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. As the construction work is weather-dependent, work postponements cannot be ruled out.

The Cantonal Civil Engineering Office (Tiefbauamt) will provide information  about the exact construction dates at an early stage, and the corresponding information can be found on the website www.zg.ch/baustellen. The building authority will take the necessary precautions to keep traffic obstructions to a minimum.
