Never before have so many companies been domiciled here

The commercial register set a new record at the end of 2022 with 38,547 registered companies. The total number of registrations also reached a very high level of 19,784.

"The Zug economy has shown itself to be robust, despite various global challenges and changes - including the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and possible energy shortages," says Zug  mayor (Landammann) Silvia Thalmann-Gut is quoted in a media release from the Department of Economic Affairs (Volkswirtschaftsdirektion) regarding the figures of the commercial register (Handelsregister) at the end of 2022. After the record year of 2021, the register once again recorded very high figures in 2022, both for new registrations and for the total number of registrations. The total number of companies registered at the end of 2022 was 38,547 (end of 2021: 36,917).

The number of entries made in the Zug Commercial Register (new entries, changes and deletions) was 19,784, which is less than in the record year 2021 (22,735), but is still well above the average figure for recent years. It is the highest value in the history of the Zug Commercial Register Office in a year in which there was no change in the law resulting in a higher number of registrations.
