Musician from Cham becomes a YouTube star
It is probably the dream of every musician to get thousands of clicks on the Internet for his music. World stars like Justin Bieber were discovered by fans in exactly this way. David Lunt, who grew up in Cham, is currently experiencing a similar experience with his video clip for the song “Walking”. The clip went viral about two weeks ago, and has already amassed around 112,000 clicks, with almost two thirds of these coming from Switzerland. "I am very surprised and proud to have gained so much attention," said the 33-year-old in one of his first interviews. He has been making music since he was 20, and has already placed some self-recorded videos online. "Walking" is the first video that he has recorded with a professional production team, however. The pop music video was filmed over 12 hours at various locations in Zug, working together with the production label Toxic TV from Belgrade. "We recorded at the lake, at the railway station, in various bars in the city and in the empty Cham Papieri," says Lunt, who was born in Ticino.

All his songs are written based on certain emotions: “The song ‘Walking’ is about the fact that I’ve always had the feeling that I had to travel far away to experience something. In the meantime, I’ve realised how nice it is at home in Zug, and generally in Switzerland. And I wanted to express all this through the song,” explains Lunt, who studied to be a carpenter. He has travelled in all the continents except the Arctic. "I’ve never spent more than two consecutive years in Switzerland since my apprenticeship, and have been on trips lasting a year," says Lunt. Other people buy a house at his age, but he has bought himself the freedom to see the world over the years. Another important reason for the change of heart is that he became a father for the first time in August. "I’ve now bought a minivan, and would like to go camping in Switzerland and nearby countries once the baby has arrived," says Lunt.
David Lunt is happy about the success of his new music video “Walking”, which was recorded in Zug.
Lunt, who currently lives in Zurich, was discovered and supported around two years ago by a member of the Para Connection Music Empire recording studio, which is located in Hünenberg See. The label focuses on talented artists from the region. "They heard me sing for the birthday of a colleague, and wanted to sign me immediately," recalls the artist. It was also Para Connection that made it possible for him to work with the Serbian production company Toxic TV and to appear in the Galvanik in Zug, where he was able to present his new hit and other self-written songs to around 200 visitors from all over Switzerland last week. “Unfortunately, around 80 people cancelled due to the Corona virus that’s currently going around. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was great and I was proud that people still came despite the current fear of infection,” says Lunt. That was his first official concert appearance. Otherwise, he only performed at friends' parties in the Badi, at Pier 21 or at the the Eleven Bar Zug. Music is a sideline to his job as a carpenter at the moment: "My dream would only be to make music in the future, and to be able to make a living from it." He will be working on his own music album in the near future, and would be happy to accept further concert bookings. "I also plan to go on tour next year."
Note:
David Lunt's next concert will take place on Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at the ‘Viertel vor Frietig Party’ in the Galvanik in Zug.
