Multiple collision on the A14 motorway

There was a rear-end collision involving several vehicles on the A14 motorway this morning, between Gisikon and Rotkreuz. The accident has led to significant traffic disruptions throughout the region between Zug and Lucerne.

According to the Zug police, the rear-end collision occurred on the A4 motorway between Gisikon and Rotkreuz, heading for Zug, just before 6.30 am on Tuesday. Several vehicles collided with each other, but there were no casualties according to initial information.

The accident had a significant impact on the morning traffic, with traffic jams over a length of 10 kilometres on the A14 between the Rathausen tunnel and the Rütihof junction. A loss of time of up to one hour can be expected.

There are also considerable traffic jams on the main roads around the accident site. Travellers from Lucerne to Zurich are kindly requested to use the A2 Wiggertal junction. Travellers from Basel in the direction of Schwyz are asked to drive via A2 Altdorf.

According to the Zug criminal investigation authorities, a truck on the breakdown lane distracted several drivers. Then there was an accident between six vehicles on the overtaking lane.

The police estimate the damage to the motorway infrastructure and the cars involved to be around CHF 90,000. Three vehicles suffered total damage, but nobody was hurt.
