More new companies than ever before

The economy of the canton of Zug is booming – a fact also reflected in the cantonal commercial register.

As of the end of 2025, 43,275 companies were registered, the Department of Economic Affairs announced. Compared to the previous year 2024, when 41,450 companies were registered, this represents a net increase of 1,825 companies.

The number of new registrations alone reached 3,688 companies, marking a record high. In 2024, there were still 3,075 new registrations.

Director of Economic Affairs Silvia Thalmann-Gut describes these figures as “just one of several indicators.” What matters for the future, she says, is less short-term success and more sustainable value creation and long-term prosperity. “The canton of Zug has stood for stability for decades – both financially and politically.”

The Director of Economic Affairs is also pleased that the team at the cantonal Commercial Register and Bankruptcy Office was able to increase its productivity despite the record number of registrations, reducing processing time from 4.9 working days in the previous year to 4.1 working days.

The total number of entries made in the commercial register (new registrations, amendments and deletions) amounted to 24,047, which is also a record figure. In the previous year, there were 22,051 entries.
