Mattress catches fire in an apartment building

Last Friday evening (5 May 2023), shortly before 5.50 p.m., a mattress caught fire in a flat in an apartment building on the General-Guisan-Strasse in Zug, resulting in heavy smoke.

The 62-year-old resident noticed the smoke and was able to extinguish the burning mattress on his own before the fire brigade arrived. He was examined by the rescue service for suspected smoke inhalation, but remained uninjured.

The 62-year-old man's flat had to be cleared of smoke by the fire brigade and is temporarily uninhabitable. There was no immediate danger for the other residents of the apartment building. They did not have to be evacuated by the fire brigade.
