Man rescues his dog from smoke-filled apartment

On Wednesday afternoon, 11 December, shortly after 2.30 pm, a report reached the dispatch centre of the Zug police that smoke was coming from an apartment on the Hinterbergstrasse. The Steinhausen fire brigade was quickly on site with the first emergency services, and found a kitchen fire. They successfully extinguished several small fires, according to a media release by the Zug law enforcement agencies.

The 44-year-old resident was not in the apartment when the fire broke out, but returned a little later. He managed to rescue the dog, which was alone in the apartment, from the smoke-filled room before the arrival of rescue workers. The Beagle suffered smoke poisoning and was cared for by the staff of the Zug rescue service. He is fine so far. He was then handed over to the animal rescue team. No persons were injured.

The beagle breed suffered smoke poisoning, and was cared for by the staff of the Zug rescue service.

The fire department subsequently cleared the apartment of smoke, but the rooms are currently unhabitable. The cause of the fire is still unclear and will be clarified. Members of the Steinhausen fire department, the fire department inspector, and employees of the Zug rescue service and the Zug police were involved in the incident.
