Major fire destroys barn

A barn has been completely destroyed by fire on the Haldenhof in Rotkreuz. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is still unclear.

On early Wednesday morning, shortly before 3 a.m., several reports were received at the Operations Control Centre of the Zug Police that there was a fire at the Haldenhof in the municipality of Rotkreuz. The Zug police reported as follows:

When the first emergency services arrived, a barn was completely on fire. A large contingent of the Risch and Hünenberg fire brigades immediately began to fight the fire from all sides. They were also supported by the Zug Fire Brigade (FFZ), using a mobile rotary ladder.

An inferno: A barn in Rotkreuz is completely destroyed by fire.
According to the authorities, the damage to property is "considerable".

Together, the emergency services managed to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring buildings, which had to be cooled with water. Due to the enormous heat of the fire, a number of windows were shattered, and 12 people from the surrounding properties were thereby evacuated as a precaution. The barn contained various pieces of agricultural machinery, a wood chip store, firewood and straw. No people or animals were injured.

Major material damage incurred
The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by the Forensic Service of the Zug Police. The damage caused is considerable, but the exact amount is still to be quantified by the authorities.

The Luzernerstrasse between the Honau roundabout and the roundabout in Rotkreuz had to be closed during the fire-fighting operation. Around 130 members of the Risch and Hünenberg and Zug fire brigades, the fire brigade inspectorate as well as employees of the Zug ambulance service and the Zug police were deployed.
