Lustenberger & Dürst SA recalls raclette cheese

Listeria has been detected during a routine analysis by a customer of the Hünenberg-based company Lustenberger & Dürst SA. The Confederation(Bund) announced this on Thursday evening. ‘The affected products are sold at the Coop and Aldi Suisse.’

A health risk cannot be ruled out. The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) recommends that the affected products should not be consumed. Lustenberger & Dürst SA has immediately withdrawn the products from sale and has launched a recall. These product batches are specifically affected.

What are the dangers for consumers?
An infection with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes is usually mild or even asymptomatic in people with an intact immune system. In the case of immune-compromised persons, a series of severe symptoms could develop, with a potentially fatal outcome. During pregnancy, a Listeria infection can lead to a miscarriage, or the child could be born with septicaemia or meningitis.
