Lucerne railway station completely closed on 7 and 8 November
In addition to the replacement of the railway power system for CHF 7 million, maintenance work is also being carried out elsewhere at Lucerne station.
In order to adapt the railway power system of Lucerne railway station to the current standards, the SBB announced in a press release that rail traffic at Lucerne railway station will be suspended for two full days from 7th to 8th November. The shops at the station will remain open during this time.
Travellers are kindly requested to take advantage of the following replacement offers:
- The stations in Ebikon, Sursee, Emmenbrücke, Littau, Lucerne Verkehrshaus or Lucerne Allmend/Messe are to be used for travel to and from Lucerne.
- Replacement buses will run directly to the "Lucerne, Inseliquai" station from Ebikon, Emmenbrücke, Littau and Lucerne Allmend/Messe,
- Bus lines 6, 8 and 24 are still available between "Lucerne, Bahnhof" and "Lucerne, Verkehrshaus"
Total shutdown allows avoidance of 40 night work sessions
Work has been underway on the railway power plant at Lucerne railway station since May 2020. According to the SBB, the two-day total closure means that 40 individual night work sessions can be avoided, and various items of construction work can be bundled.
