Lolo Coffee shop in Zug railway station

From last November, coffee and pastries can be enjoyed in the new coffee shop in the north underpass of the Zug railway. station The business is run by Oliver Lioris, who is fulfilling a dream.

The small coffee shop at Zug railway station can help break the stress of everyday life: whether you are hurrying through the underpass or passing leisurely by on your way home, Lolo Coffee offers you a short break. The charming coffee shop with its turquoise-green wall and attractive decor creates a relaxed atmosphere, and invites you to step inside and treat yourself to a coffee and a piece of cake while on your way.

Lolo Coffee was opened in the North Underpass of Zug railway station by owner Oliver Lioris on 21 November 2022. Up to then, the resident of Baar has been roasting coffee and selling it in his online shop, which is now to be closed down. The physical coffee shop was the next step for him – whereby "homemade" and quality are the focus.

Pursuing a dream
The online shop where coffee roasts could be purchased has been around since summer 2022. The 43-year-old owner always enjoyed roasting coffee for himself as a hobby, until he started selling his roasts last summer.

"It has always been my dream to open my own coffee shop one day," says Lioris. When he came across the shop at Zug railway station last year, he was finally able to realise that dream. The focus is entirely on the shop at the station. "Lolo Kaffee is not a roastery, but a coffee shop," he explains. The coffgee is only roasted for own use, and a few roasts can be purchased in the shop.

Quality and "homemade
Lolo Coffee stands for quality and fair-trade coffee. Oliver Lioris buys the raw coffee beans from a large roasting company, which itself buys the beans directly from farmers. This keeps the sales chain short and direct, and helps the farmers earn a fair income. The shop offers Brazilian and African coffee, which can also be bought as a roast in the shop. Oliver Lioris describes the taste of his coffee as "chocolaty, nutty and spicy".

The owner, who originates from Baar, thinks that "You always need something sweet with your coffee." That's why, in addition to coffee, he also offers fresh pastries of all kinds. The cakes, cookies and other snacks are prepared fresh daily by his wife Ana Lioris. She supports her husband in his dream and helps him where she can. The couple run the shop more or less together, with Ana Lioris decorating the shop as well as preparing the pastries, and Oliver Lioris being responsible for the organisation, as well as preparing the coffee. Oliver himself is mainly behind the counter.

Focus on the new shop
The name Lolo Kaffee is based on the nickname of the coffee shop owner. He explains: "Lolo is my nickname from the past. Many people didn't even know that my name was actually Oliver and always just called me Lolo".

Oliver Lioris is extremely pleased with his coffee shop at Zug station. "It's small but fine," says the man from Baar. He doesn't have a next goal in mind at the moment; his focus is entirely on the coffee shop, especially as he and his wife run it as a couple and have a child together.

Cold coffee will be offered and ice cream will probably also be available in the summer.

Note:
Lolo Coffee is open from 6.30 am to 2.30 pm Monday to Friday, and from 7 am to 1 pm on Saturday.
