Live-in container catches fire

A fire broke out in a residential container, but the flames were successfully extinguished by the resident using a garden hose. The damage to property is considerable.

On Wednesday, 26 August, shortly before 1.45 p.m., the operations control centre of the Zug Police received a report that a residential container was on fire on the Chamerstrasse in Rotkreuz. By the time the first emergency services arrived at the scene, the resident had already extinguished the fire using a garden hose, according to the relevant notice from the Zug law enforcement authorities.

The premises were then examined for further embers by the Risch Rotkreuz fire brigade, who also cleared out the smoke. The 63-year-old resident, who was not in the container when the fire broke out, was taken to hospital with suspected flue gas poisoning. According to the communication, she has been able to leave in the meantime.

The fire damage to the object was considerable, reports the Zug police, although the exact amount of damage cannot be quantified yet. A second residential container was also affected. According to the investigation so far, a hot plate that was left switched on is likely to have been responsible for the fire.

The Chamerstrasse had to be closed for a short time during the firefighting operation. Fifteen members of the Risch-Rotkreuz Fire Brigade, as well as employees of the Zug Ambulance Service and the Zug Police were on duty.
