Lido season average only

The lido season closed at the end of last week with those involved in running them busy putting things away, as Roland Keller can be seen doing in the photograph.

With the recent warm temperatures, it was reported a number of swimmers and sun- worshippers would have liked the lidos to have stayed open a bit longer.

Looking back over her season at the beachside lido in Unterägeri, Luzia Heggeler said that the main reason she had had fewer guests this year was because of the changeable weather in August. “However, we did have 50,000 of them in all, which was all right.” Fortunately, the algae which had adversely affected Lake Zug had not been evident in Lake Aegeri though this was also the reason there were no swans there (on Lake Aegeri).

Over at the lido in Rotkreuz, one major incident stood out, that when five-year-old boy nearly drowned as a result of his parents’ lack of supervision. It was only thanks to the immediate intervention of two women guests there that he survived. The organisers there insist that toys are to be used in the non-swimmers’ pool only. One other aspect the organisers complained about was the litter problem.

For Ramon Nietlisbach, this was his first season at the Badi Siehbach, one which remains open; he was pleased about the number of guests, who mentioned how they enjoyed the greater range of food and drinks on offer there. In fact, he admitted enjoying the odd period of bad weather, so he and his team could recover somewhat.

Over at Hünenberg, only an average season could be spoken of, this after a poor start, too. Daniel Schriber, who is head of safety and the environment in the municipality, mentioned how they now had a safety drone there, though, fortunately, it had not had to be used. One problem they did have was the sea grass there.

As previously reported, a snake appeared at the Badi Seelikon. “Guests were not really frightened,” said supervisor Tina Simeon, “Many, including me, would have liked to have seen it.” Putting a positive slant to the much rain, she said this had helped maintain the water’s level and summed up the season there as being “very successful”, not least as there were no accidents at all this year.
