Keeping cool in the heatwave

A morning stroll along the shore, a refreshing swim, a thrilling boat trip: all of this is possible on, in, or around Lake Zug. Although "refreshing" is perhaps a currently bit of an exaggeration with a current water temperature of 26°C (78.8°F).

Nevertheless, Lake Zug can be a true lifesaver during this prolonged heatwave, making the hot days more bearable.

The City of Zug has also recently issued a statement highlighting the heat and simple protective measures against it. It's recommended to adjust your daily routine to the high temperatures. For example, take it easy and seek shade or cool rooms during the hottest part of the day. It's also important to drink plenty of fluids.

The City Council also urges everyone to look out for one another. Elderly people, those living alone, and those with health conditions are particularly vulnerable to the heat. The council recommends contacting those affected by the heat by phone, or visiting them in person to offer assistance.

As insider tips for coping with the heat, the City of Zug suggests visiting the reception area of the Stadthaus (town hall) or the Bibliothek Zug (Zug library). This service is especially intended for people who don't have cool rooms at home, or who have limited mobility.

Anyone experiencing potential heat-related symptoms such as weakness, confusion, dizziness, headaches, muscle cramps, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or diarrheal should act quickly. The city recommends drinking fluids, cooling down, finding a shady spot, and seeking medical help if necessary.
