Jet of flames during a fire drill

A 36-year-old firefighter was seriously injured in the preparation for a firefighting exercise on June 23rd. He unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Friday, July 10th.

On Tuesday evening, June 23rd, shortly after 7.30 p.m., two firefighters in Unterägeri were preparing an exercise, according to the press release of the Zug law enforcement authorities (we reported on June 25th). For reasons that are still unknown, there was a sudden jet of flames A 36-year-old man suffered significant injuries and was flown by ambulance to a hospital in a neighbouring canton, after receiving initial treatment by the Zug ambulance service. Unfortunately, the firefighter died in hospital on Friday, July 10th, according to the Zug police. His 41-year-old colleague suffered minor injuries at the time and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The exact circumstances that led to the accident are being investigated and these investigations are continuing, according to the media release. During the initial care and the deployment of the rescue helicopter, the Buchholzstrasse had to be closed at short notice.

Members of the Zug ambulance service, the fire brigade inspectorate, the rescue helicopter (Rettungsflugwacht)and the Zug police were on duty at the original incident.
