Zug/Baar Tangente, 22.06.2021

Invited guests celebrate the opening of the new road on a smaller scale

In his speech, Construction Director Florian Weber spoke of the "real added value" that the infrastructure project has created.

After four years of construction, the Zug/Baar Tangente will be handed over to traffic on 24 June. The opening was marked with a small celebration on Friday evening, as the cantonal Building Directorate reported. Due to the corona measures, only 100 guests were admitted to the tent, which was set up at the installation site of the Tangente, between the Rigistrasse and Inwilerriedstrasse roundabouts.

There is a good reason to celebrate, emphasised Building Director Florian Weber in his speech. "With the Zug/Baar Tangente, we are able to hand over an infrastructure to the population that creates real added value for our canton." Because the Tangente not only shortens the travelling time between the mountain and valley communities, but also relieves the centres of Zug and Baar.

After the speeches by Landammann Martin Pfister and Florian Weber's two predecessors, former Construction Director Urs Hürlimann and Finance Director Heinz Tännler, the EVZ Gastro GmbH donated two wooden benches to the canton, which will provide an opportunity to take a break by the Tangente in the future. This was followed by the award ceremony of the entrepreneur soapbox derby on Thursday, followed by a dinner accompanied by music from the "Gläuffig" band. The Tangente book was also presented, which all guests receivung a copy when leaving. The invited guests spent the evening in a corona-compliant manner, with four persons per table.

The new road section will be inaugurated with a small event next Thursday, before the Tangente is finally used by the first cars.
