Intoxicated motorist drifts around a roundabout

After drunkenly driving around the roundabout in Risch-Rotkreuz several times and letting the engine rev noisily, a 31-year-old motorist was tracked down at his home, where he was finally arrested.

A 31-year-old driver caused a stir in Risch-Rotkreuz on Wednesday afternoon. The man, of Polish nationality,  and who was clearly under the influence of alcohol, let the engine of his car howl and the wheels spin on the Buonaserstrasse in the area of the railway station. He then drifted several times around the roundabout there, before driving off in the direction of the town centre, according to a statement by the Zug Cantonal Police.

The incident occurred shortly before 12 noon on Wednesday, 10th May. Several people observed the conspicuous driving behaviour and informed the police. Thanks to the good information received, the police were able to locate the driver at his home, where clear symptoms of alcohol misuse were detected.

A blood and urine test at the hospital was thereby ordered and as, according to the police, the 31-year-old was "behaving in an unruly manner" he was temporarily arrested. He was also banned from driving in Switzerland and will now have to answer to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Zug.
