Information from April 17, 2020

How should I behave in general?
The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) provides detailed information on the rules of conduct on its website about "New Coronavirus" and updates them regularly.

What should I do if I show symptoms? How can I get tested?
In the case of symptoms such as fever and cough, you need to stay at home so that you won't infect anyone. If the symptoms are mild, then you can take care of yourself, and a test for infection is not necessary.

If you are at a higher risk level,or if the symptoms become worse: Call your doctor. He or she will decide whether a medical examination needs to be carried out or whether it is sufficient if you stay at home and take care of yourself.

Healthy individuals who do not show symptoms will still not tested.

The Federal Office of Public Health FOPH has prepared an online check,  with which you can find out the correct procedure in each individual case.

Effects of the Corona virus: Overview of the economic measures taken by the Federal Government and the Canton of Zug

In addition to the federal measures, the Governing Council of the Canton of Zug adopted a plan with various measures on 24 March 2020, including the offer of a helpline for Zug companies corona_zugerwirtschaft@zug.ch, Tel.+41 41 767 01 20.

Extending and simplifying short-time working

Due to the federal relaxation of pre-registration requirements for short-time work in connection with the coronavirus, the registration has been simplified and expanded.

Further information on the procedure and forms can be found on the website of the Office for Economic Affairs and Labour.

Schools

The Federal Council has informed that compulsory schools will be able to resume classroom instruction from 11 May. High school and universities are expected to reopen from 8 June. Until then, the building of the PH Zug will remain closed and training and further education will continue to take place virtually.

Day care centres (Kitas) to remain open

In the amended ordinance on measures to combat coronavirus, the federal government now also regulates the question of day care centres. It has decided to leave the day care centres open. For this reason, the day care centres in the canton of Zug will remain open as decided by the Governing Council on Saturday, 14 March. The municipalities offer a simplified reporting procedure for companies that now want to set up their own childcare services for their employees' children. The necessary form was made available to the communes by the canton.

Based on Article 6(1) of the Federal Ordinance, playgroups are not permitted. (It is forbidden to hold public or private events, including sporting events and club activities.) They are covered by this provision, regardless of whether they are organised as an association or not.

Prohibition of visits to hospitals, old-age and nursing homes and social facilities

In order to further protect the particularly vulnerable groups of people, the Health Directorate Canton of Zug has also issued a ban on visits to hospitals, nursing homes and social institutions in the canton, although the hospitals themselves made this decision at the weekend. In individual cases, the management of the institutions may grant exceptions to the visit ban in cases of objectively justified reasons (e.g. palliative care). In these cases, the home management regulates the details, in particular with regard to  the maximum number of visits, the number of visitors and the maximum number of visits per day. If necessary, the management consults the responsible home doctor. The homes will ensure the implementation of the visit ban.

Central Coordination Centre for Volunteers

In order to protect the population from infection as much as possible, people, especially the defined risk groups, should stay at home as much as possible. The eleven registration offices (Einwohnergemeinde) of the canton of Zug are thereby relying on neighbourhood assistance and want them to be coordinated and active. In particular, older people who live alone could become unsure and wonder whether they can carry out normal shopping trips. People who need this help, but also healthy people who are not part of the risk group and who want to help out with due caution, will be provided with a one-stop coordination centre. The central coordination centre for neighbourhood assistance is a cooperation of all Zug municipalities, headed by Sovoko, as well as with the support of numerous social institutions and organisations.

Anyone who wants to seek or offer help can contact the central coordination centre via the following contact form:

The site can also be reached by phone on 041 723 89 60 (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

For example, medical students or persons and retirees with experience or knowledge in the health care and care sector could apply. Interested parties can contact rebekka.voney@zg.ch  by e-mail.
