Inebriated driver runs into traffic light and suffers serious injuries

The accident happened on the Baarerstrasse in Zug on Monday, 11 May, shortly after 11.45 p.m. A 37-year-old man was driving towards Zug. At the Ahornstrasse, he lost control of his vehicle and collided sideways with the light signal system there, the Zug police report.

The small car overturned several times and came to a halt about 50 metres beyond the scene of the collision, lying on its side. The driver was seriously injured and was taken to hospital by the Zug ambulance service.

The breath alcohol sample carried out showed a value of 0.60 mg/l (approx. 1.2 per mille). According to the police, damage to property amounted to around CHF 30,000. The driver's license was confiscated and sent to the administrative authority (the Road Traffic Office). The driver will also have to appear before the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug.
