Inebriated driver lucky to escape injury after losing control over his vehicle

A 35-year-old driver was lucky to escape injury after he lost control over his vehicle on the main road between Zug and Walchwil early on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened shortly after 5 am as he was proceeding along Artherstrasse southwards towards Walchwil at a point known as the Zigeunerplätzli where he veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with a boulder and ending up on a grass verge. While he, as mentioned, escaped injury, his vehicle was written off and had to be towed away.

As journalist Zoe Gwerder wrote, when he was given a breathalyser test it turned out he had been driving under the influence of alcohol, his driving licence was duly confiscated forthwith.
