In the run-up to the elections, what issues concern the people of Zug the most?

A recent survey by the Sotomo research organisation of Zurich found that, basically, the people of Zug were concerned about the same issues as people in other parts of Switzerland.

It appears the subject most people here in  Zug were concerned about, prior to the elections planned for this coming Sunday, is the reform to provision for old age (38 per cent), followed by 37 per cent of people who were concerned about climate change and CO2 emissions.

Thirty-four per cent of locals were concerned about Switzerland’s relationship with the European Union, the same percentage as those concerned about immigration and foreigners. As to health insurance payments, this was also of concern to 32 per cent of those asked.

There was then a fall of 11 per cent, down to 21 per cent, of those concerned about the protection of nature and the countryside, the same percentage who were concerned about the economy and competitiveness.

Seventeen per cent said they were concerned about matters relating to independence and sovereignty, followed by another fall of 4 per cent, to 12 per cent, of those worried about the cost of accommodation. Only ten per cent were concerned about equal opportunities for women, with eight per cent concerned with traffic-related matters such as congestion, the same percentage of those worried about crime and security, unemployment and wage pressure. Only six per cent of those asked were concerned about maintaining the level of their pensions, with four per cent worried about tax in general and state spending. The fewest people, just two per cent of them, were concerned about the reforms to Corporation Tax.

Out of interest, 700 people were asked in an online questionnaire between 9th and 30th September.
