How Zug kiosk staff are experiencing the lottery craze
The Swiss Lotto jackpot has grown to CHF 65 million. People are currently playing like crazy - and this is also noticeable in the city of Zug, as a survey shows.
Michael Herrmann from the kiosk in the Neustadt Passage in Zug says frankly: "It's horrendous at the moment. So many people are playing the lottery, especially those who have never played before. We have to explain the process over and over again. It gets on your nerves and takes a lot of time. The turnover is good, I don't want to complain about that. Nevertheless, I send a prayer to the heavens with every draw that the jackpot will finally be won."

Premanantan Kalarqjany from the smaller of the two kiosks at Zug station is more relaxed about the whole thing: "I've experienced it like this before. At the moment, everything is still fine." This is where Kalarqjany benefits from her 15 years of experience as a kiosk saleswoman at Valora AG, including at Zurich main station.
Apulenia Kerellaj, an employee at the kiosk by the Bundesplatz car park, is currently experiencing the lottery craze up close for the first time. "There are definitely more customers here every day - certainly twice as many as usual," says the young sales assistant. The Zurich local has been working in the Zug kiosk since last summer. "Many people only come by to buy two or three lottery tickets, they don't want much else," she has noticed.
