House uninhabitable after fire

A three-storey farmhouse caught fire in Finstersee, near Menzingen, on Saturday, November 23. A report that a house was burning in Finstersee reached the operational control centre of the Zug Police shortly after 3 p.m. When the emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire, the flames were blazing on one side of the house facade and the smoke was already very thick, writes the police in a statement.

The fire department immediately started the extinguishing work from the outside, while a patrol entered the building wearing respiratory equipment. They succeeded in extinguishing the flames, as well as various smouldering embers. The extinguishing work was made more difficult by the strong wind, which continually rekindled the flames.

The 43-year-old resident was not in the building during the fire, and nobody was hurt. The property damage is considerable, however - the exact amount cannot yet be quantified, according to the Zug police. The house is uninhabitable until further notice.

50 members of Menzingen and Neuheim fire departments, the central Zug fire department (FFZ), the fire department inspector and staff of the Zug emergency services and the Zug police were in action on Saturday

The house in Finstersee was badly damaged by the fire.
