Heavily inebriated driver crashes into the central guardrail on the A14

A driver who should not have been behind the wheel in his condition caused a single-vehicle accident on the A14 motorway on Saturday evening. The 43-year-old was lucky that he was not injured, but the property damage amounts to several thousand Swiss francs.

A 43-year-old man was driving on the A14 motorway from Baar in the direction of Cham at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, 5 November. He thereby collided with the central guardrail, but continued driving on without reporting the damage, as Zug's Public Prosecutor's Office reported on Sunday.

The driver was stopped in Cham and, as he showed symptoms of alcohol consumption, a breath alcohol measurement was carried out on the spot, which resulted in a value of 2.08 per thousand.

The driver was not injured in the accident. His driving licence was confiscated by the police, and he will now have to appear before the Public Prosecutor's Office in Zug.

According to the police report, the property damage amounts to several thousand Swiss francs.
