Heating mushrooms will be allowed for longer

The Governing Council has extended the amended ordinance of the Energy Act until the end of May.

The Zug Government Council (Regierungsrat) has provided some relief for several sectors, and for the catering industry in particular, by supplementing the regulation to the Energy Act at the beginning of December 2020. For example, it allowed fossil or electrically powered heating systems to be installed and used outdoors for a limited period of time until the end of April.

This permission will now be extended by one month until the end of May, according to a statement. This is being done due to the nationwide lockdown that was imposed shortly after the announcement of this measure. "The option of being able to use the outdoor areas by setting up heating mushrooms or heat radiators, even during the cold seasons or at lower temperatures, was thereby lost," says the statement. The extension is now necessary in order to " support the newly-created possibilities for the restaurant establishments to use their terraces in the best possible way."
