Green politician takes to driving rickshaw, though not just to take people from A to B

Andreas Lustenberger, the leader of the Alternative Green Party (ALG), is taking to the streets of the canton in a rickshaw over the next few weeks, though not simply to take passengers from A to B; he has an ulterior motive.

While rickshaws as a form of transport are more common in Asian countries, the odd ones can be spotted in Europe, particularly in tourist areas.

The appropriately green-coloured rickshaw Lustenberger is using not only comes with a bicycle but battery power, too. Well, the canton is quite hilly in parts. “Sustainable mobility is what it is needed in these times of climate change,” he said, adding that a rickshaw was a perfect example of an environmentally-friendly form of transport, with its added elements of fun and joie-de-vivre.

The young politician, who is also a candidate in the elections to the National Council this autumn, said how much he was looking forward to meeting locals in his travels over the next few weeks.

He is very much aware that, wherever one goes, taxi drivers are very much the ones to ask when it comes to enquiring about prevailing local issues. In his case. he wants to turn the situation round and find out what concerns his passengers may have.

Why not hail him and tell him your problems?
