Gotthard Pass closed for the winter

The most important Alpine crossing in Uri will be closed to road traffic until the spring.

Following the Klausen, Furka and Susten passes, the Gotthard Pass is now also closed for the winter.

As announced by the Federal Roads Office Astra, the most important Alpine crossing in Uri will be closed for the winter from 6 pm on Thursday evening, 14^th November 2024.

The decision was made in consultation with the Uri Construction Department.

With the exception of the Oberalp Pass - which can still be used with winter equipment - all the Alpine passes in Uri will therefore be closed for several months. In previous years, the passes could be re-opened between the end of April and June, depending on the amount of snow that had fallen over the winter.
