Getaway car with Zug number plates

Less than a week after an armed robbery at a watch shop in Aarhus, Denmark, four men have been arrested. The alleged perpetrators fled from the scene in a car with Zug number plates – but none of them are Swiss This was announced by the Danish media a few days ago.

During an armed robbery at the Kejser Aarhus shop on 23rd May, two men stole watches worth around CHF 630,000. The owner of the shop and an employee were tied up in a back room, and one of them had a gun held to his throat, as he described to TV station TV 2 Østjylland. The victims managed to free themselves by breaking a window and, with blood-stained hands, sought help in a neighbouring hairdressing salon.

The perpetrators apparently used a white Renault Clio with Zug licence plates as their getaway vehicle. Following a tip-off from the public, the car was later discovered in a Lidl car park in the Skejby district, and was seized by the Danish police.

No Swiss nationals among those arrested
In a press release, the East Jutland police recently announced further details about the case. According to the release, the suspects are a 27-year-old and a 30-year-old from Montenegro.

A 62-year-old man from Serbia who was also arrested is accused of being the owner of the loaded pistol used by the two suspects during the robbery. A 36-year-old Dutchman is also in custody - he is alleged to have received the stolen goods. The Danish police have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests.

Police refuse to reveal any further details
It remains unclear who owns the car with the Zug licence plate, and whether it can be linked to one of the arrested men. When asked, Emil Enemark Sørensen from the East Jutland Police said that the vehicle is now in police custody. The authorities are currently refusing to disclose any further information, citing the ongoing investigation.

It also remains unclear whether the four men were on their way abroad. The Zug Police are also keeping quiet. Media spokesperson Frank Kleiner said that no information could be provided at this time ‘as the investigation is being led by our Danish colleagues.’ The nemberplate is listed as non-existent on the Zug Numberplate app.
