From the parking space into a wall

A woman driver confused the accelerator pedal with the brake pedal. As a result, her vehicle crashed violently into a wall, and the driver had to be hospitalised.

The accident occurred on the Blickensdorferstrasse in the municipality of Steinhausen shortly before 3:00 pm on Monday afternoon (10 January 2022). An 81-year-old woman driver confused the accelerator pedal with the brake pedal when driving away from a parking space, whereupon the vehicle drove uncontrollably forward across the road and both pavements. The car then crashed violently into a wall on the opposite side.

The driver was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital. The car was a total write-off, and the property damage to the wall is considerable.

The driver's licence was immediately confiscated from the driver.
