Free surfing in public transport

From 12 December, Swisscom customers will be able to surf the Internet on the train free of charge. This free Internet offer is linked to the use of the SBB Freesurf app. To ensure that the mobile network functions optimally along the train routes, Swisscom intends to further expand its mobile network, according to the press release.

SBB has been offering "SBB Freesurf" on the entire route network for a year now. Among others, owners of Salt or Sunrise mobile phone subscriptions are already benefiting from this.

This will now also apply to Swisscom customers From the timetable change on 12 December: "We want to make SBB Freesurf available to all our customers," says Friederike Hoffmann, Head of Connected Business Solutions. "This solution can be used by customers with a Swisscom subscription and by our prepaid customers." Most of its customers are already on the road with flat rates subscriptions, however, adds the mobile phone provider.

If you want to use SBB Freesurf, you need to download the app and register yourself - and then you can start surfing – at least in appropriately marked carriages. In order to be able to benefit from the free Internet, the app must be started every time you use it.
