Four injured in head-on crash on Lorzentobelbruecke

Four people were injured, two seriously, in a head-on crash on the Lorzentobelbrücke (bridge over the ravine through which the Rover Lorze flows) on Friday evening.

The incident happened shortly before 6.15pm on Aegeristrasse as a 23-year-old woman was driving over the bridge towards Aegeri. As she approached a stationary breakdown van, she manoeuvred to overtake but in so doing collided head-on with an approaching vehicle. Both she and her 19-year-old woman passenger sustained serious injuries and were subsequently taken to hospital. Fortunately, the driver of the other vehicle, a 24-year-old and his 21-year-old woman passenger, escaped with slight injuries.

Both cars were written-off in the incident, which led to one lane only being passable for some time.

Bearing in mind the time at which the accident occurred, it was not surprising that much congestion built up.
