Fire brigade called in due to smell of gas

On Sunday evening, shortly before 6:15 p.m., residents of the “Am Rainbachass” apartment building in Inwil (municipality of Baar) reported a strange smell in the property, according to a report from the Zug police. The specialists who were immediately deployed to the scene found that the gas in question was escaping into the stairwell from a cellar compartment.

20 residents of the apartment building were evacuated as a precaution, and were checked for any health problems by the Zug emergency services. Two people were then hospitalised for further checks, but were able to leave the hospital a little later. The residents were able to return to their homes after the fire brigade had vented the property.

The exact cause of the gas leakage has not yet been determined, and will be clarified by the police department of the Zug police. The focus is on a technical cause, possibly due to charging car and motorcycle batteries.

Around 30 members of the Baar fire brigade and the Zug fire brigade (FFZ), the fire brigade inspector and employees of the Zug emergency services and the Zug police were deployed.
