Fascination with mushrooms

For the second time, the Pilzkunde Zug und Umgebung (Zug and Surrounding Area Mushroom Society) enriched the popular Oberägeri Weekly Market last Saturday, 29th August.
 

Despite the currently very meagre mushroom harvest in the local forests, the society members managed to put together a surprisingly diverse small mushroom display, which attracted numerous market visitors to their information booth.

Experts from the society's technical committee were readily available to answer questions from interested visitors throughout the morning. They provided in-depth information about the exhibited mushrooms, explained ecological relationships, and gave valuable tips for safe mushroom picking.

In addition to the professional exchange, market visitors could test their own mushroom knowledge in an engaging quiz. Those with a taste for culinary delights were also in for a treat: a homemade mushroom risotto mix with high-quality dried mushrooms was on offer at the stand.

The stand was complemented by clear information panels that provided detailed information about edible mushrooms and their dangerous look-alikes, as well as about the diverse activities of the association.

The stand also served as a preview of the traditional, large mushroom exhibition with its popular risotto meal, which will take place on the Zugerberg on Sunday, 20th September, the Day of Prayer and Repentance (Bettag).
