Failed driving manoeuvre ends against building pillar

A woman driver drove backwards instead of forwards at the "Zugerland shopping centre" and then crashed into a pillar. No one was injured.

The accident occurred at the entrance to the multi-storey car park at the "Zugerland Shopping Centre" shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday (11 January 2022). While carrying out a driving manoeuvre at the entrance barrier, a 73-year-old driver confused the accelerator with the brake pedal, whereupon the car drove several metres backwards. As a result, the vehicle grazed a hedge, knocked over two metal posts and crashed backwards into a pillar of the building.

The driver was fortunately uninjured, but the resulting property damage amounts to several thousand Swiss francs. No other people were harmed.

The driver's licence was taken from the driver on the spot.
