Fabric face mask manufacturer moves from Zug

Around 50 people will work in the new building in the Städtler Allmend.

The fabric face masks from the Zug manufacturer Livinguard were and are in high demand during the pandemic. The self-disinfecting technology developed by Indian company founder Sanjeev Swamy transforms carrier materials such as textiles into positive "magnets" for negatively-charged viruses and bacteria. The washable face masks, which are made of cotton, largely eliminate these unwelcome guests.

The company has grown strongly in recent months, and has now decided to move its head office from the city of Zug to Cham. According to a statement, Livinguard will now merge the technical and research department with the head office in Cham. The company has reached the limits of its capacity at its current location in Zug, and now plans to soon accommodate all its 49 employees in the new building in the Städtler Allmend, where it will also be able to use the additional premises for the technical team.

"Companies like this strengthen our business location"
In the search for a larger site, the company felt it was important to stay in the region. "Our move to Cham is a testament to the hard work of the entire Livinguard team to provide the world with a self-disinfecting technology, which has led to a significant growth in Switzerland," says CEO Sanjeev Swamy. This step makes it possible to meet the growing demand worldwide, to further develop the patented technology and to integrate it into new products. Livinguard operates in Switzerland, Germany, USA, Singapore, Japan, India and South Africa.

For the municipality of Cham, the influx shows that it is on the right track with its economic development, the statement continues. The municipal council had set itself the goal of increasing jobs during the 2019 to 2022 legislative period. "I am very pleased that a company that is carrying out technological pioneering work for the well-being of all people in these difficult times is moving to Cham," says municipal president Georges Helfenstein. "Companies like strengthen our business location and help us to master the challenges of the future."
