EVZ women remain unchallenged at the top of the league
The EVZ women's ice hockey team celebrated a comfortable 9-1 victory in the Women's League on Saturday, against bottom-of-the-table Neuchâtel Hockey Academy (NHA).
The EVZ were clearly the dominant team here, and built up a 6 goal lead (Noemi Neubauerova and Rahel Enzler with 2 goals each, and a goal each from Lara Stalder and Ivana Wey) before conceding a single goal in the third session (Tanja Kunz, 46th minute). But a further 3 goals were then scored in the last 10 minutes (two from Alina Marti and one from Luisa Waser) to complete the 9-1 win. The match was played in front of only 99 spectators. :o(
They thereby remain unchallenged at the top of the league standings, having now earned 57 points from 21 games (goal differential: 112-27). Their closest rivals, Ambri-Piotta, are already 8 points behind with two more games played.
As the Swiss women's national ice hockey team is competing in a four-nation tournament in Finland this week (with several Zug players in the team), the Women's League season will resume on Sunday, 21st December. The EVZ women will then have a home Women’s League fixture against the Langenthal women (SCLD) at 2:30 pm in the OYM Hall.
But their next match will actually be an away match in the Women’s National Cup. The EVZ won the cup last year, and will continue their defence in the quarter-final round, in which seven teams from the PostFinance Women's League, together with the Dragon Queens from the SWHL-C, will compete for a place in the Final Four of the Women's National Cup. Their opponents will once again be the Neuchâtel Hockey Academy (NHA). The match will take place at the Patinoires du Littoral (ancien) stadium in Neuchâtel from 5:45 pm on Saturday 20th December.
Further tournament details
The winners of the quarter-finals will qualify for the Final Four tournament, which will take place at the Vaudoise Arena in Lausanne on the 16th and 17th January, 2026.
Both semifinals, the final, and the bronze medal game will be played there, and tickets are already on sale at sihf.ch/ticketing.
