EVZ ice hockey women in the cup final

The EV Zug ice hockey women will play for the cup title in Lausanne on Sunday. They won the semi-final against HC Davos 7:3 thanks to an improved performance after the first period.

The EVZ let the lead slip twice in the first period. Naemi Herzig scored in the 3rd minute to make it 1:0 before Elizabeth Lang equalised. Just 75 seconds later, Annic Büchi made it 2:1 with a long-range shot after the defender had been out for six weeks with a concussion. Through unnecessarily risky behaviour, however, the EV  Zug invited the HCD to equalise in the final minute.

EVZ turned up the heat in the middle third and over-ran their opponents. Nina Harju, Rahel Enzler (2) and Lena-Marie Lutz scored the goals for a 6:2 lead in front of only around 200 fans. The third goal that EVZ conceded was just a blemish on their performance, as was Lara Stalder's missed penalty (52').
Annika Fazokas scored in the powerplay to round off the scoring.

The final in Lausanne starts at 4 pm on Sunday. The EV Zug team will thereby face either Ambri or Fribourg, who play each other on Saturday at 5 pm.
