Driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics

Last weekend, the Zug police confiscated the driver's licences from four incapacitated drivers. Two of them had previously been involved in a single-vehicle accident. Fortunately, no-one was injured.

On Saturday evening (11 December 2021), shortly before 9:00 p.m., an intoxicated female driver was driving on Schochenmühlestrasse in the direction of Steinhausen. She hit the curb on the right side, thereby damaging the car, which then had to be towed away. The breath alcohol measurement carried out on the 49-year-old showed a value of 0.74 mg/l. Her driver's licence was thereby confiscated, and she will have to answer to the administrative authority (Road Traffic Office).

A few hours later, in the early morning of Sunday (12 December 2021), shortly before 01:30 a.m., a police patrol checked a driver at the motorway exit by Lindencham. Due to his behaviour, as well as the fact that he admitted recently using cannabis, a rapid drug test was carried out on the 27-year-old. This was positive, whereupon the on-call prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample to be taken at the hospital.

An almost identical picture was presented to the emergency services only 20 minutes later on Sinserstrasse in the municipality of Hünenberg. A rapid drug test was carried out on the spot on a 29-year-old driver, and was also positive. This driver also had to provide a blood and urine sample at the hospital.

Both drivers had to hand over their driver's license on the spot.

A further case of driving under the influence of narcotics occurred on Sunday morning (12 December 2021), shortly before 10:45 a.m. A 22-year-old driver caused a single-vehicle accident on the A4 motorway between the Rütihof and Blegi junctions, and crashed into the central barrier. After the rapid drug test showing positive, the on-call prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample to be taken at the hospital. The 22-year-old’s foreign driver's license was revoked and he was issued with a driving ban for Switzerland.
