Driver briefly nodded off: van crashes into a school bus
A rear-end collision occurred accident in the morning traffic in Baar. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The accident happened on the Ägeristrasse just before 8 a.m. on Monday morning, 9th November, according to the Zug police. A 22-year-old van driver who was travelling downhill noticed too late that the vehicles in front of him were slowing down, and crashed into the back of a school bus. There were four children on the bus at the time of the accident, but fortunately no one was injured in the collision. According to the statements of the driver responsible for the accident, he nodded off briefly during the journey (microsleep), which led to the rear-end collision.
The school bus suffered major damage
Both vehicles were no longer able to be driven, and had to be towed, and the total damage to property amounted to several tens of thousands of Swiss Francs. While the details of the accident were being recording and the vehicles were being recovered, traffic had to be pass by the accident site in a single lane. The driver's license was confiscated from the 22-year-old van driver and forwarded to the administrative authority (Road Traffic Office).
