Delivery van loses front wheel on the A14 motorway

A delivery van lost a wheel while driving on the A14 motorway near Gisikon at 5:30 pm on Sunday evening. The wheel rolled away and stopped after several hundred metres in the area of the Gisikon exit.

The incident occurred at 5:30 pm on Sunday evening (30 October 2022) on the A14 motorway, between the Rütihof and Gisikon junctions. The left front wheel of a 34-year-old driver's van came loose while driving, and rolled away, coming to a rest after several hundred metres in the area of the Gisikon exit, according to a press release from the Zug Police, who are responsible for this section of motorway.

The 34-year-old driver was able to bring the van to a stop on the hard shoulder. The man complained of back pain, however, and was therefore taken to hospital by the Zug Ambulance Service. According to the press release, the incident caused damage to the road surface over a length of about 200 metres.

According to the investigations so far, at least one uninvolved vehicle was damaged by the lost wheel. This driver, as well as any other injured parties, is asked to report to the Zug police on 041 728 41 41.
