Delivery van and tablecloth catch fire:

On Wednesday evening, November 27, just before 7.30 pm, an employee of a car repair shop in the Untermüli in Zug was busy carrying out welding work on a delivery van when the vehicle caught fire, according to a report from the Zug police. The 41-year-old worker reacted immediately and was able to extinguish the flames with two fire extinguishers. The Volunteer Fire Brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr) of Zug (FFZ), which had been alerted by the automatic fire alarm, pulled the van into the open and put out the last glowing embers. Smoke was then removed from the workshop using two extractor fans. Nobody got injured during the incident.

The fire brigade was also called out to Walchwil a few hours later. Shortly after 3 am in the morning, the message came in that an apartment on the Zugerstrasse was full of smoke. Using protective respiratory protection, the fire department entered the premises and found that a plate-warming drawer below the oven was still in operation, and that a plastic tablecloth that was inside it had melted, causing the heavy smoke. The warming drawer was then dismantled and the apartment was cleared of smoke. The four people who were present at the time were able to return to the apartment after an examination by the Zug ambulance service.

Around 60 members of the Walchwil and the Zug (FFZ) fire brigades, as well as employees of the Zug emergency service and the Zug police, were involved in the two oprerations.
