Defending floorball champions Zug United in the final again

The Zug United men's floorball (Unihockey) team will play for the Swiss championship title. The Zug team also won their fourth semi-final against Zurich's Grasshoppers, this time with 4:3.

The result belied the course of the game, however. The Zug United team were in complete control of the fourth game in front of 660 fans in the Hardau sports hall on Sunday, 13th April, and were leading led 4:0 in the 45th minute, with goals by Albin Sjögren, Milo Kailiala, Maurus Christen and Sami Johansson.

In the final phase, the Zurich team only managed to cosmetically improve the score, and were eliminated from the best-of-seven series with a 0:4 loss.

In a strong collective, keeper Nils Schälin was once again the outstanding figure with his countless saves, and the Obwaldener was voted best player. A relieved captain Tim Mock said after the win: “We deserved to win the games and the series".

In the superfinal from 4 pm on Sunday, 27th April in the BCF Arena in Fribourg, Zug United will probably face Tigers Langnau, who currently lead the series against Floorball Köniz 3:1.

The Zug United women's team could also reach the championship final again, after their last appearance in 2024. They won their second home game against Emmental on Saturday, 12th April, and have thereby drawn level at 2:2 in the semi-final series. The big figure in the fifth game was Zug's top scorer Denisa Ratajova. She was undeterred by a missed penalty and scored in the 5th minute of overtime after a free shot to win 3:2.
