The board and management of Zug Sinfonietta, the renowned Zug orchestra, are delighted to have extended the contract with the conductor who first conducted the Zug Sinfonietta more than eight years ago.
Daniel Huppert (pictured) conducted the Zug Sinfonietta for the first time in May 2015, when he led a concert programme in Steinhausen, and he has now been the musical director of the Zug orchestra since the 2016/2017 season. His current contract, which runs until the 2023/2024 season, has now been extended for a further four years, up to the 2027/2028 season, as recently announced by Artistic Director Lion Gallusser.
President Matthias Michel is delighted: "For both the orchestra and the audience, it’s wonderful that we can take the development steps that were initiated together with Daniel Huppert, such as the new Zug Classical Subscription, together". Lion Gallusser also greatly appreciates the collaboration: "It's great that we can take the Zug Sinfonietta forward with a musically-minded, far-sighted and likeable chief conductor like Daniel Huppert".

Over the past eight years, Daniel Huppert has overseen significant developments as chief conductor at the orchestra. For example, the subscription concert series (Abo-Konzertreihe) was established in Cham in 2016. This has been expanded in the current 2023/2024 season to include four concerts with the Zug Classical Subscription (Zuger Klassik Abo) working together with the Zug Theatre and Music Society TMGZ.
Daniel Huppert is also very happy to continue to be part of this success story: "I'm delighted to be able to accompany the orchestra for another few years and hopefully continue to create wonderful concert moments for our loyal audience in the future." Daniel Huppert will next conduct the Zuger Sinfonietta on 9 and 10 March 2024 as part of Subscription Concert 3, “Saxaphonezauber" with Asya Fateyeva at the Lorzensaal in Cham.
