Corpus Christi: public holiday in Canton Zug

Thursday, the 30th of June is the Roman Catholic feast day of Corpus Christi this year.

This is a public holiday in the canton of Zug (and also in cantons Aargau, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Fribourg, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchatel, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Schwyz, Solothurn, Ticino, Uri and Valais).

It is referred to in German as “Fronleichnam”, and many of the municipalities will carry out processions on that day (see photo of the ceremony on the Postplatz in Zug in 1900, courtesy of the City of Zug).
