Considerable damage caused in joinery fire

A fire broke out in a joinery in Cham late on Monday evening causing considerable damage; fortunately, no-one was injured.

The emergency service received a call that there was blaze at the joinery on Obermühlestrasse shortly after 10.30 pm, whereupon 55 firemen rushed to the scene, some of them subsequently using breathing apparatus. Fortunately, they were able to bring the fire under control and ensure it did not spread to adjacent buildings. As mentioned, no-one was injured as no-one was on the premises at the time.

It appears the fire broke out in a part of the joinery where items of furniture were fitted together. As to the cause, this is still being investigated. The extent of the damage in financial terms is still being assessed.
