Co-leader of Young Green Party of Switzerland wants to change people's attitudes

Twenty-three-year-old Luzian Francini is already the co-leader of the Young Green Party of Switzerland and deputy leader of the Swiss Green party. If he is elected to the National Council in the elections next month, he will do his best to change people’s attitudes, not least when it comes to the economy and society.

Although still only young, he has experience of politics at national level and said it was important that people under the age of 30 took responsibility for their future. “Decisions taken today will impact on my generation more than any other,” he said.

As mentioned, he wanted to change people’s attitudes when it comes to the economy and social matters, but not just in these areas, reminding the electorate how scientists had confirmed there were only twelve years left to prevent an environmental catastrophe. In addition to supporting young people, he also wanted to help the weakest in Swiss society, not least in providing affordable housing and equal opportunities.

As to how he viewed his chances, he said that, as a member of a youth party, he felt his chances were small but he hoped to persuade voters to elect someone from an alternative party. He was also looking forward to engaging in political debate with the electorate in Zug.

As to why he felt he, personally, should be elected, the student mentioned how, although he had his roots in Zug, he was very much active at national level and would like to make use of this network for the benefit of the people of Zug. “I will work as hard as I can to ensure an open, ecological and socially-aware Switzerland,” he concluded.
