Central Swiss Junior Wrestling Day 2026

The traditional Junior Swiss Wrestling Festival and the 24th Central Swiss Junior Swiss Wrestling Day will take place in Cham this coming weekend. Young Alpine wrestling talents from Central Switzerland will compete in front of a home crowd.

The Cham district of Hagendorn will become a stronghold for the young Alpine wrestling talents of Central Switzerland this coming weekend. The festivities kick off on Saturday, 27th June, with the traditional Junior Swiss Wrestling Festival (Buebeschwinget), which is being held for the 51st time. The opening round begins at 9:00 a.m.

The 24th Central Switzerland Junior Alpine Wrestling Day (Innerschweizer Nachwuchsschwingertag), one of the most important youth events in the Central Switzerland Alpine Wrestling Association (Innerschweizer Schwingerverband), will follow on Sunday. Both events are being organised by the Cham-Ennetsee Alpine Wrestling Club (Schwingklub Cham-Ennetsee).

The opening round of the youth competition day begins at 9:00 am on Sunday. After the initial rounds and the lunch break, the decisive matches will be on the programme. The final bouts are scheduled for around 4 pm, with the awards ceremony expected to take place at 5 pm.

Approximately 160 of the best young wrestlers from Central Switzerland, born between 2009 and 2012, will enter the sawdust ring and compete for the coveted double laurel branches.

The event has a long tradition, and is considered an important springboard for future top wrestlers. Numerous well-known names can be found on the list of past winners – including wrestling king Joel Wicki, club member and top wrestler Pirmin Reichmuth, and Lukas Bissig.

Providing a worthy stage for up-and-coming wrestlers
The festival grounds on the Hagendorn school grounds offer excellent conditions for spectators on both days, with ample seating available on the grass. The food and drink stalls open at 7 am each day, and will provide refreshments throughout the weekend. The organisers recommend using public transportation, or making use of the designated parking areas on site.

By hosting the Central Swiss Junior Wrestling Day 2026 in Hagendorn, wrestling enthusiasts and the population of Cham will have the opportunity to experience the stars of tomorrow up close, and to thereby offer a worthy stage to the next generation of Alpine wrestlers.
