Canton to provide on-site information about new asylum and refugee accommodation
The asylum and refugee accommodation in the Maria vom Berg property in Menzingen has been in operation since mid-December 2024, and will be opening its doors to the public on the 28th January.
The Directorate of Home Affairs of the Canton of Zug (Direktion des Innern) will thereby be hosting an informal public information event from 6 pm on the 28th January at the imposing accommodation centre in Menzingen, which was formerly a nursing home of the Sisters of the Holy Cross (Schwestern vom Heiligen Kreuz).
Asylum seekers and refugees have moved into the former nursing home of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

Employees of the cantonal Social Welfare Office (Kantonal Sozialamt) will guide visitors through the premises in small groups. Together with the mayor of Zug (Landammann) Andreas Hostettler, employees of the Zug Police and the security service, they will be available for information and informal discussions, as the canton announced on Tuesday.
The residents of the new accommodation will prepare an aperitif for the event, and the canton has already set up an online form that the local population can use to formulate "questions, concerns and requests".
The feedback will be analysed by the cantonal Social Welfare Office, and the results will be published in the ‘Mänziger Zytig’ at the end of March.
